One Pot Cheeseburger Orzo Skillet
Servings: 6
Time: 20 minutes
INGREDIENTS:
1 lb ground beef or turkey
1 tbsp minced garlic (or 3 cloves)
½ tsp salt
½ tsp pepper
½ tsp paprika
2 tbsp all purpose seasoning
1 14.5 oz. can diced tomatoes
2 cups chicken or beef broth
2 cups uncooked orzo
1 cup shredded cheese
Shredded lettuce or spinach (garnish)
Diced tomatoes (garnish)
Diced red onion (garnish)
Pickles (garnish)
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Cook ground turkey or beef over medium-high heat until no longer pink. Drain any excess
- oil.
- Add the garlic, salt, pepper, paprika, and all purpose seasoning to the pan. Mix everything together and cook for another 1-2 minutes.
- Add the can of diced tomatoes, broth, and orzo to the pan and stir. Mix well, making sure the orzo is mixed well into the liquid. Bring to a boil.
- Turn the heat down to medium-low, mix ingredients again, and cover. Cook for 12-15 minutes, stirring every few minutes throughout the process so the orzo doesn’t stick to the bottom of the pan.
- Stir in the cheese. Top with desired garnishes and enjoy :)
TIDBITS:
- This recipe originally called for taco seasoning but I swapped because taco seasoning in a cheeseburger skillet didn't make any sense to me!
- I bought the orzo on amazon. HyVee carries orzo though!
