One Pot Cheeseburger Orzo Skillet

Servings: 6
Time: 20 minutes

INGREDIENTS:

1 lb ground beef or turkey
1 tbsp minced garlic (or 3 cloves)
½ tsp salt
½ tsp pepper
½ tsp paprika
2 tbsp all purpose seasoning
1 14.5 oz. can diced tomatoes
2 cups chicken or beef broth
2 cups uncooked orzo
1 cup shredded cheese
Shredded lettuce or spinach (garnish)
Diced tomatoes (garnish)
Diced red onion (garnish)
Pickles (garnish)

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Cook ground turkey or beef over medium-high heat until no longer pink. Drain any excess
  2. oil.
  3. Add the garlic, salt, pepper, paprika, and all purpose seasoning to the pan. Mix everything together and cook for another 1-2 minutes.
  4. Add the can of diced tomatoes, broth, and orzo to the pan and stir. Mix well, making sure the orzo is mixed well into the liquid. Bring to a boil.
  5. Turn the heat down to medium-low, mix ingredients again, and cover. Cook for 12-15 minutes, stirring every few minutes throughout the process so the orzo doesn’t stick to the bottom of the pan.
  6. Stir in the cheese. Top with desired garnishes and enjoy :)

TIDBITS:

  • This recipe originally called for taco seasoning but I swapped because taco seasoning in a cheeseburger skillet didn't make any sense to me!
  • I bought the orzo on amazon. HyVee carries orzo though!
